Das ander Buch by Hans Neusiedler
Hans Neusidler was a very influential German lute composer in the early to mid 16th century. He published a series of 8 books which serve as a repertoire for the lute student. In researching one of these works, Das ander Buch: ein new künstlich Lautten Buch für die anfahenden Schuler (1544), I have been unable to find any transcriptions into modern staff notation. There are recordings of some of the pieces, but I suspect they were either performed directly from the German notation, or transcribed into French notation beforehand.
On this page, I present a selection of Neusiedler’s works from Das ander Buch, transcribed both into modern staff notation and tablature for guitar. As noted above, I believe these to be the first modern transcriptions of these works.
